GUEST POST: STAGING TIPS THAT WILL GET MORE PROPERTY INQUIRIES

Today we have a guest post about staging and getting a homes ready for listing from Corey Tyner, a writer and business owner who helps sell your house fast.

If you’re a real estate agent or just someone selling a home, you’re probably all too familiar with the importance of staging your home before you take any photos of it. Staging is crucial to showing a home in its best light and drawing in as many potential buyers as possible. There are many aspects to staging and many ways to improve your staging process, so let’s go over some tips you can use to maximize your chances of success.

1. USE SYMMETRY

The human eye is drawn to symmetry. We like things to be neat and orderly, so use as much symmetry around your house as possible. You don’t need to stick to this rule religiously but as a general guideline, you should lean towards symmetry wherever you can create it.

2. ADD NEUTRAL COLORS

Neutral colors aren’t going to turn anybody away the moment they step in the door. Beige, cream, and light brown are just a few of your options here. Paint the walls, and redo the floors as well if it’s within your budget. Grey wood flooring is one example of a neutral-colored floor you could install in your kitchen.

3. PERFORM A DEEP CLEAN

You’ll need your house as clean as possible before you take any photos. Aside from regular cleaning, you’ll need to do some deep cleaning as well. This can include using a combination of half bleach and half water to disintegrate any mold in your shower or on your quartz bathroom countertops, having the carpets steam-cleaned, and clearing out any personal items that might break the illusion of an unlived-in home.

4. MAKE MINOR REPAIRS

Replace broken light switch frames and burnt out bulbs, touch up paint whenever it’s faded, and look for small details that you could improve upon. These things often go unnoticed by you, but not by potential buyers.

5. STAIN YOUR CABINETS

Instead of replacing your old kitchen cabinets, just put a new coat of stain on them. Remember to go with the grain when applying it and use even strokes. This will bring your cabinets back to life for a small price.

6. TRANSFORM YOUR APPLIANCES

Stainless steel is hot right now, but it would cost you a lot to replace all your appliances with stainless steel versions. Instead, buy a stick-on covering and cut it to size. Your appliances will look the part, and the fact that they aren’t fully stainless steel isn’t likely to turn away many buyers.

The Little Things Often Make All the Difference

When it comes to staging your home to create the best photos possible, the tips laid out in this article are guaranteed to bring you good results. Remember to do a few extra inspections throughout the home so you don’t miss any little details. By implementing symmetry, stainless steel covers, neutral colors, deep cleaning, cabinet staining, and a host of other strategies, your photos will stand out from the rest and draw in more potential buyers as a result.
